SCAN TO SMB on WINDOWS XP

1. On the desktop, create a Folder.

2. Right-click the mouse on an empty background. Select New and click Folder.

3. Name the Folder.

4. Here, it is scan.

5. Right-click on the scan folder and select Sharing & Security.

6. In the scan Properties, click on “If you understand the risk…, click here”

7. In the Enable File Sharing, click on ‘Just enable file sharing’ and click OK.

8. Back in the scan Properties, check the ‘Share this folder on the network’.

9. Still in the scan Properties, check the ‘Allow network users to change my files’ and click OK.


10. Click on Start > All Programs > Internet Explorer.

11. Type in the IP Address of the Kyocera MFP in the address bar of Internet Explorer.

12. In the Kyocera Command Center, click on Login.

13. Type in the password “admin00” (without the quotation mark).

14. Click on Basic tab.

15. Point the mouse over Address Book and click Contacts.

16. In the Address Book Contacts, click on ‘Add Contact’.

17. Under Contact Information, type a name (e.g. Alfonso)
Under SMB, type in the computer name or IP Address of the Windows XP PC in the Host Name (e.g. tpcxp)
Type in the folder name in Path (e.g. scan)
Type any character in the Login User Name (e.g. a)
For the Login Password, leave it blank.


How to know the Hostname or IP Address of the computer.
Click on Start > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt.


In the Command Prompt, type in “ipconfig /all” (without the quotation mark)
If the DHCP Enabled is No, the IP Address is Static.
The IP Address or Host Name can be used.


If the DHCP Enabled is Yes, the IP Address is Dynamic.
Therefore, only Host Name can used.

SCAN TO SMB on Windows Vista

1. On the Desktop, create a folder.

2. Right-click the mouse on an empty background. Select New and click Folder.

3. Name the folder.

4. Here, it is scan.

5. Right-click on the scan folder. Click ‘Properties’.

6. In scan Properties, click on Sharing tab.

7. Click Share button.

8. In the File Sharing window, click on the drop down arrow.

9. Select ‘Everyone (All users in this list)’.

10. Click Add.

11. Click on ‘Everyone’.

12. Select ‘Co-owner’.

13. Click Share.

14. Click Done.

15. Click Advanced Sharing.

16. In Advanced Sharing, check on the ‘Share this folder’.

18. In the Permissions for Everyone, check on the Full Control – Allow box.

19. Click OK.

20. In the Advanced Sharing, click OK.

21. In the scan Properties, click Close.

22. Click the Network icon on the lower right corner of the Desktop.

23. Click on “Network and Sharing Center”.

24. In the Network and Sharing Center, click on the drop down arrow in the ‘Public folder sharing’.

25. Under Public Folder Sharing, Select “Turn on sharing so anyone with network access can open, change and create files”.

26. Click Apply.

27. Click on the “e” icon on the lower left of the Desktop to open Internet Explorer. (Here it’s Mozilla Firefox)

28. Type in the IP Address of the Kyocera MFP in the address bar of the web browser.

29. In the Kyocera Command Center, click on Login.

30. Type in the password “admin00″ (without the quotation mark).

31. Click on Basic tab.

32. Point the mouse over Address Book and click Contacts.

33. In the Address Book Contacts, click on ‘Add Contact’.

34. Under Contact Information, type a name (e.g. arsenio)
Under SMB, type in the computer name or IP Address of the Windows 7 PC in the Host Name (e.g. tpcvista)
Type in the folder name in Path (e.g. scan)
Type in the Login User Name of the PC (e.g. ariel)
Type in the Login Password of the PC (ask assistance from the end user of the PC).

How to determine the Hostname or IP address of the PC.
Click on Start > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt.


In the Command Prompt, type in “ipconfig /all” (without the quotation mark)
If the DHCP Enabled is No, the IP Address is Static.
Then IP Address or Host Name can be used.
However, if the DHCP Enabled is Yes, the IP Address is Dynamic.
Therefore, only the Host Name can be used.
