Scan to SMB on LINUX MINT 13

Linux Mint is an Ubuntu-based distribution whose goal is to provide a more complete out-of-the-box experience by including browser plugins, media codecs, support for DVD playback, Java and other components. It also adds a custom desktop and menus, several unique configuration tools, and a web-based package installation interface. Linux Mint is compatible with Ubuntu software repositories.

Installing SAMBA
Click on the Linux Mint logo > Accessories > Terminal
Type in,

sudo apt-get install samba samba-common system-config-samba

then hit enter key

Configuring Samba via GUI
First, create a folder for the scanned document/s.

Here, the folder name is scan.

Click on the Linux Mint logo > System Tools > Administration > Samba

Enter the password. Same password when you log in.

Click the + button

Click on the Browse button to locate the scan folder

Check the boxes for Writable & Visible

Click on the Access tab

Select Allow access to everyone

Click OK

Right-click on the scan folder then select Sharing Options

Check all the boxes

Click on the Create Share button

Click on the Add the permissions automatically button

Configuring the Machine’s Command Center
Launch Firefox. Type in the IP address of the machine in the address bar to access its Command Center

Host name: Host name of Linux Mint machine or its IP address, r-mint or

Path: Shared Folder, scan

Login User Name: Login name on Linux Mint, ryel

Login Password: Linux Mint password, password
